At TideHaus Fitness, our story isn’t just about building a gym—it’s about building a home where fitness, health, and community come together. That vision comes from the paths of two people whose lifelong passion for movement and coaching shaped what TideHaus is today: Nick Shappee and Sammy Nalley.
Nick’s Journey: From Athlete to Coach and Competitor
Nick’s love for competition and movement started early. In high school, he excelled in lacrosse, football, and wrestling, setting the foundation for a lifetime of athletic achievement. That passion carried him to Limestone University, where he continued competing in wrestling and cheerleading while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Strength and Conditioning.
Nick didn’t stop there. He went on to compete in Men’s Physique in the WNBF, where his dedication earned him a pro qualification for the 2019 Worlds in natural bodybuilding. His competitive spirit also thrives in team settings—Nick has been a United Grid League utility specialist for the Southwest Florida Sharks for 7 seasons running.
Since graduating in 2012, Nick has devoted himself to training others. Drawing from his own journey, he has worked with everyone—from adults pursuing weight loss to kids learning healthy habits to elite-level athletes fine-tuning their performance. Growing up in Hawaii and now living in Bluffton for over 25 years, Nick has become a trusted figure in the local community. His passion for helping people shines through in both the results his clients achieve and the confidence they carry forward.
Sammy’s Journey: From Gymnast to Group Fitness Leader
For Sammy, fitness has been a way of life since childhood. She was a high-level gymnast for 15 years, reaching USAG Level 10, while also competing in soccer, softball, track, and cheerleading. Her love for movement naturally flowed into coaching—starting in high school and becoming a full-time gymnastics coach in 2013. Sammy went on to lead as a USAG team coach for 4 years and later spent 5 years coaching high school gymnastics.
Her passion expanded into group fitness in 2015, where she quickly earned certifications including USAW Weightlifting, CrossFit Level 1, and CrossFit Level 2. Sammy has competed at the 2021 CrossFit Games and continues to compete in the United Grid League, now entering her 6th season as a utility specialist.
Over the years, she has worked alongside world-class athletes, trainers, and therapists. Her mission is clear: help people achieve their goals, stay pain-free, and feel empowered in their own skin. She is especially dedicated to supporting young women in building confidence through fitness and creating spaces where people can thrive both physically and mentally.
TideHaus: More Than a Gym, a Home
Together, Nick and Sammy combined their shared love for fitness, coaching, and community to create TideHaus Fitness. For them, it’s never been about just running workouts—it’s about building a space where people feel supported, challenged, and at home.
At TideHaus, members aren’t just numbers on a board—they’re family. It’s a place where parents can set powerful examples for their kids, athletes can push their limits, and everyday people can find strength and health they never knew possible.
Bluffton has been home for decades, and TideHaus is our way of giving back: creating a space that inspires health, confidence, and community for generations to come.
